December arrives and as every year our mind begins to think about the Christmas holidays, vacations and New Year’s resolutions. Since November we already see stores decorated with lights and Christmas trees, reminding us that the time is coming to “give and receive” and inviting us to take advantage of their incredible prices.
If you have a large family, searching for Christmas and Epiphany gifts from the whole family (or at least the majority) can be overwhelming and, to be honest, somewhat expensive. We go through all the fashion stores, making our way through the crowd of people who are also looking for the perfect gift. We search online with a single thought: to find something that that person doesn’t have, that is original, unique and a real surprise.
What can I gift on the Holidays?
It is not difficult to know that the spill of money in these times is enough, in addition to knowing that many of these gifts will remain stored in the closet unused, as abandoned toys. That’s why when we’re going to give a gift to someone (not just at Christmas and Epiphany) we must do so with conscience. We must think of things that we know that person needs that they are really going to use, and if possible that it is a product with a cause; or preferably that it supports a local business or artisan.
Buying products from artisans, artists or designers has a much greater value than buying from an industrialized brand. When we buy a product for ourselves or to give away that is from an artisan or small business, we are helping that person to generate a profit that will help them continue to create and see their passion unfold in a sustainable business. Buying handmade products and crafts helps to promote local talent and get designers and artists the recognition they deserve, as well as finding super original products that you can hardly find anywhere else.
Artisan Market “Artisans Supporting Artisans” Christmas Edition
Many of these artisans don’t have a physical space to show their products, especially at this time; that’s why we’ve teamed up again with Cervecería Tyris and Tyris On Tap, to create the third edition of the artisan market “Artesanos Apoyando Artesanos” Christmas Edition. The artisans featured in this edition bring a variety of products ranging from jewelry, custom clothing, sustainable accessories and Mexican crafts; to home décor, handmade scarves and handcrafted chocolate.
As in previous editions, you can visit this small but large craft market on Sunday, December 15 from 12:00 to 20:00 hours at Tyris On Tap, located on Taula de Canvis 6 Street, a few steps from the Central Market and the Silk Exchange. In addition to finding the perfect gift, you can have one of the delicious handcrafted beers and even taste the DDH IPA beer created specifically for its 10th anniversary! You can also enjoy Beak and Trotter tapas with their American-style burgers, wings and ribs that will leave you wanting more.
Come have a great time and find the perfect gift for that special person. Don’t forget that you can also find other handcrafted products at www.valexicostore.com that will make you look good with everyone.
